Charger Commons/Intranet Redesign

Over a period of four months, I redesigned Providence Day School's intranet site in Blackbaud. The site is broken down into thirds - one area for parents, an area for faculty and staff and an area for students.

My goal was to make the sites much easier to navigate and that began with creating a consistent design and doing a complete audit of all copy. I decided to use a bold font and more generalized categories. A singular font and basic colors allows the user to focus instead of having to look through all the icons and photos used on the pre-redesigned site in order to find what they need.

By meeting with stakeholders, I was able to gain an understanding of what copy must stay, must be updated or could be eliminated. This led to the creation of 12 categories where all remaining information, forms, links and microsites would be housed.

Being able to condensed 41+ categories into 12 greatly streamlined the visitor's use and reduced their time needed to find what they were looking for. This was a very successful project and a wonderful opportunity to work with many different campus departments.
